Building Technician (Harlem YMCA) GRADE: I SALARY: $15.96 P/H - $19.95 P/H FULL-TIME The Harlem YMCA is seeking a qualified individual who will provide leadership to the overall management and maintenance of the building and property. The Building Technician will also maintain mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems throughout the facility to ensure a safe, hazard-free environment. Responsibilities: • Assist the Property Director in the administration, development and monitoring of the operation plan. Must be able to project manage annual shutdown and camp renovations. • Assist Property Director with assigning work orders to maintenance staff and coordinate the needs of other departments in an effort to achieve high level of productivity with available resources. • Assist in maintaining plant mechanical systems. Make sure that the boilers, pools, fire safety equipment, plumbing fixtures, electrical units, gas, ventilation, HVAC systems are all in good working conditions. • Maintain a preventive maintenance program, repair, replace and upgrade systems as needed. Plaster and paint areas throughout facility, as instructed by supervisor. • Maintain an organized, effective system for prompt follow-up on all repairs and maintenance requests. • Assist in recommendation of major building equipment purchase. • Assist in implementing an Energy Conservation Plan to include modernizing HVAC system and lighting systems. • Assist in supervision outside contractor, in-house construction projects and capital improvements. • Assist in developing in-house training on fire safety, pool maintenance for equipment and program areas. • Implement rules and regulations to ensure the safety of members and staff according to risk management guidelines. • Respond to emergency situations at branch as needed. • Actively participate in all designated meetings, training sessions and special events. Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred. • Three to five years of supervision experience and managing projects. • Experience in electrical, plumbing, fire protection, systems, building construction and management, energy conservation, burner, boiler and pools. • Knowledge of plumbing, painting and carpentry. • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
