:::Building Women’s Agency across Cultures for Responsive Post Conflict Reconstruction::: As a result of the knowledge and skills acquired from the third phase of the International Exchange Programme Institute jointly organized by Isis-WICCE and NAWHRDs from August 6 to 12, 2014, participants developed evidence based advocacy plans to respond to the gaps identified in their country research studies. The national level advocacy actions will be carried out between September 2014 and May 2015. Using UNSCR 1325 as the key tool for analysis participants developed strategies on how to respond to the emerging issues. Participants from Myanmar developed strategies on how to address the increasing levels of domestic violence by influencing the Ministry of Social Welfare to ratify and domesticate CEDAW, and input into the Myanmar civil society shadow report to CEDAW committee. Nepal participants focused on increasing women politicians’ participation in decision making positions by influencing the Local Peace Committees which are entry points for women politicians to advance their political career. Uganda participants focused on engendering the police institution by influencing the formulation of guidelines for women friendly services. South Sudan participants concentrated on influencing the signing of the Peace Agreement between the Government of South Sudan and the opposition leader Riek Machar. DRC focused on promoting the adoption of the implementation framework for womens rights and gender law to promote women’s participation in politics. The Institute was crowned with a cross-cultural night that also commemorated 40 years of Isis-WICCE’s existence. Participants wore their cultural attire and in country groups performed their national anthem as well as various songs and dances from different parts of their countries. This event brought a great amount of joy with participants who described it as a rich learning and recreational experience, “a beautiful way to experience cultures” “women uniting in diversity
