BulletProof Coffee or Buttered Coffee a Brief History A lot of people have asked me about bulletproof coffee lately. For those who are unaware of the concept it is coffee blended together with butter and MCT oil. You have this coffee in the morning and it should give you the energy to last until about 1 or 2 oclock. I have had this style of coffee for a long long time now and it does work as a meal replacement however it is simply that a meal replacement. It will give you an energy boost for several reasons. The coffee has caffeine, the MCT oil is digested quickly and produces ketones in your body which will give you an energy boost and the butter is fat which will give you loads of energy. This coffee is good and if you wish to have it instead of a meal in the morning then that is fine but it is not to be had a lot or with food. Secondly if you are not used to consuming MCT oil you will poop your pants if you have a lot of it so keep that in mind. Lastly and this is most important Dave Aspery The Bulletproof Executive popularised this method of drinking coffee. Keyword popularised. Adding butter to coffee has been done in many nations across the world particularly Ethiopia where all coffee originates. Robb Wolf brought up this topic in the fitness community as far back as 2004 but it was not until Dave Aspery sold the idea of mycotoxins to people and his bulletproof coffee (toxin free) coffee that the concept took off. Now mycotoxins do exist but go figure; coffee processors figured out that if you wet process the beans you kill the toxins. Dave Aspery claims his super secret method is the only method of doing this however his claims are completely unsubstantiated. That is to say Dave Aspery is a modern snake oil salesmen. Putting bulletproof on the label and jacking up the price of the supplements he sales. Funny enough he has a lot of bulletproof stuff to sell. So if you want to try the coffee, buy the beans you like and make the coffee with butter and coconut oil which has MCT oil in it and is safer for your body if you are not an overly active person
