Bundung ,Tallinding Upper Win FutBol Net Tournament The first edition of fulbal net tournament at Serrekunda East ended over the weekend with Tallinding upper basic school clinching the Upper Basic Schools category trophy whiles the Lower Basic school trophy went to Bundung Lower against Serrekunda East Olymp Africa team on penalties. 27 schools including Arabic schools took part in the tournament, which ran from the 27 July to 18 August 2013 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium. “The tournament gives the children the opportunity to make their own rule in every game and there was no referee and a coach during each match; all what they did was they played at their own discretions during the game. The teamer was always controlling the timing at the sideline of the field and this teamer helps the players to agree on discussion before and after the match. The players also choose one value as a topic before the game, which guide them during the game.” The tournament was organized by Olympafrica Center serrekunda East in Collaborations with GNOC and Olymafrica Futbol Net Cup at Serrekunda East. Alfosainey Jarju Director of the center was the brain behind the tournament as initiator. According to him The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) in collaboration with foundation football club of Barcelona, the International Olympafrica Foundation and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) organized a training programme on futbol net about 3 months prior to the tournament for the training of trainers on futbal net cup . He added that this tournament has now replaced the famous Daimler cup tournament. “As we know Olympafrica Center serrekunda East is a good breading and development ground for young kids and children below the age of 10 to come together every day after school to play different sports there. As we are aware the GNOC is known for developing sports in the Gambia. The tournament was played in a good atmosphere and understanding from both the stakeholders example teachers colleagues within the Olymafrica movement, because it was never easy during the period .But at the end of the day we both achieved what we want, that is futbul net cup tournament. For the first time in the history of olympafrica Serrekund east Futbul net , the first ever pilot project won by the Tallinding Upper Basic and Bundung Lower Basic school at the senior and junior categories level .Both Schools were awarded trophies and certificated during the presentation at the Venue .
