Bungaree proudly represented the Royal Australian Navy with a traditional performance at the 2014 National NAIDOC Awards, held at the Gold Coast on 11 July 2014. The annual NAIDOC awards highlight the outstanding contributions that Indigenous Australians make to improve the lives of people and their communities and beyond and to promote Indigenous issues in the wider community, or the excellence theyve shown in their chosen field. Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett, was honoured to present one of the awards, Male Elder of the Year, to Mr Richard Archibald at the special ceremony attended by 1200 people. More information on the 2014 NAIDOC Award recipients can be found at naidoc.org.au.
