Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has for a short time demonstrated being a man of action , whether decision taken is right or wrong. The guy moves with speed and this makes me think, he knows exactly where he wants Bungoma to be. He came up with a budget , being among the first to make it public, however even if it caused uproar, it was the first step in the right direction. Coming in the limelight , with the wrong reasons, strengthens him , that it can compensate his popular mandate he was given, as this can act as breaks to look over the shoulder and be in charge. It is said, he who is afraid of falling can never learn how to ride a bicycle, same with our governor the mistakes are necessary to build a long lasting image. The second move was the strategic plan, for the county, even if most are not impressed with it, the contents may not excite all of us. Yet it is an action telling Bungoma people that we need a direction before we start a journey. Having the document will provide a road map to follow when implementing our development agendas.. My take is that Mr. Governor let the document be not based on the millennium development Goals (MDG), as it may be rendered meaningless within the next two years. Already in the development circles those in the know are formulating policies which are post-2015- that is Sustainable Development Goals(SDG) In some quarters, 11 issues have been identified as emerging to be possible goals . So we have to be keen to develop a plan which is in tandem which the SDG to move with the rest of the world.
