Bunny Biscuits Recipe A couple months ago Christine H. shared this photo of biscuits she made for SaveABunny alumnae Bart (formerly Black Bart). Many people requested the recipe so here it is. Thank you, Christine! (Ed Note: Remember these biscuits are a special treat, please feed in accordance to suggested bunny diet guidelines here: saveabunny.org/rabbitcare/diet) Barts Blackberry Banana Bunny Biscuits 1 banana 6 large blackberries 1/2 carrot (or 1 very small carrot; I used 2 baby carrots) 1/4 cup timothy-based rabbit pellets 1/2 - 1 cup oat flour, plus extra for dusting Small bits of hay (vary amount based on your desired texture) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (~176-177 degrees C). Crush the rabbit pellets in a plastic bag with a heavy rolling pin (or grind them in a coffee grinder) until they have been ground into a semi-fine flour. Combine pellet flour in a bowl with 1/2 cup oat flour and hay bits. In a separate bowl, mash banana and blackberries together into a pulp, leaving only tiny pieces of fruit intact. Finely grate carrot into the blackberry-banana pulp and mix until well-combined. Pour fruit-carrot mixture into dry ingredients and mix with fork or dough whisk until a wet dough begins to form. Add oat flour bit by bit, mixing to combine, until the dough is firm enough to handle and roll out, but still very pliable. Dust both dough and a clean, smooth surface with oat or wheat flour. Roll out dough to 1/4-inch (5-mm) thickness and cut into desired small shapes; arrange on parchment-lined baking sheet. (This dough does not rise or spread, so there is no need to leave significant space between the dough shapes.) Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until firm and dry; i.e., when tapped with a fingernail or fork tine, biscuit should sound hard. Let cool completely, then serve to your bunny!
