Bunny Here: Dunsmuir City Manager/CFO, Brenda Bains, has been trying to claim a stress related absence for several years. She regularly threatens to sue the city if she doesn’t get her way and has other times demanded she be placed on “paid administrative leave” if the council wasn’t happy with her performance. What in the world is Brenda Bains so stressed about? Brenda Bains has not received an evaluation for several years. Brenda Bains was so happy about Leslie Wilde’s June 2014 recall she threw a pizza party at city hall for the council and staff. Brenda Bains helped orchestrate the recent ouster of city attorney David Hicks and has refused to pay him for his legal services. As city manager/CFO Brenda Bains sneaked herself a $6,000 raise to her own salary into the annual city budget this past July. Brenda Bain’s raise was not approved by the finance committee and went unnoticed by the council when they adopted the annual budget. Brenda Bains salary and benefits as the city manager of Dunsmuir is more lucrative than the cities of Weed and Mt. Shasta despite the fact they have twice the population of Dunsmuir, twice the annual budget, and twice the city staff to supervise. Brenda Bains celebrated at city hall once again a few weeks ago when Judge Masunaga declined to issue a preliminary injunction in David Fabbrini’s lawsuit against the City of Dunsmuir. Brenda Bains and her city staff are openly supporting council candidate Bryce Craig who if elected has promised to form a majority with council members Dave Keisler and Dick Kelby ensuring her continued employment at a salary/benefit package of $150,000 per year. Brenda Bains is the Charlie Sheen of Dunsmuir: SHE’S WINNING!! Now Brenda Bains is filing a claim with workers compensation claiming she is disabled and unable to work due to work related stress? Brenda Bains and Alan Harvey have been joined at the hip the past several weeks at city hall while they likely cooked up this whole stress-related scheme to keep her on the city payroll while appointing Alan Harvey as interim city manager. I predict Alan Harvey leads the council down the path to a settlement that keeps them both paid and Brenda out of the spot light for the impending financial audit.
