Buraida reported: Whenever the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would send a commander to the army, he would enjoin him personally to fear Allah and to be good to the Muslims who were with him, and he would say, “Go forth in the name of Allah and in the cause of Allah; fight whoever disbelieves (and rejects terms of peace); go forth and do not steal, do not commit treachery, do not mutilate, and do not kill children.” Abu Eisa At-Tirmidhi said, “The people of knowledge hate mutilation.” Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1408 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to At-Tirmidhi عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا بَعَثَ أَمِيرًا عَلَى جَيْشٍ أَوْصَاهُ فِي خَاصَّةِ نَفْسِهِ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ خَيْرًا فَقَالَ اغْزُوا بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَاتِلُوا مَنْ كَفَرَ اغْزُوا وَلَا تَغُلُّوا وَلَا تَغْدِرُوا وَلَا تُمَثِّلُوا وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا وَلِيدًا 1408 سنن الترمذي كِتَاب الدِّيَاتِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَاب مَا جَاءَ فِي النَّهْيِ عَنْ الْمُثْلَةِ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَكَرِهَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ الْمُثْلَةَ
