BurkParsons: In our home we never ask, What did you think of the sermon?We ask, What did you learn from the sermon? As a child my maternal grandfather asked us every week what weearned from the sermon. When i was in the 3rd grade he gave me to notebooks (journals) ...one was for my prayers and the other was fpr sermon notes. I was expected to listen and learn....not critique. I was the student ...the preacher was the teacher....and unless what was said went against scripture I was expected to learn. Now, because I was expected to know whether what was said was biblical, Grandpa expected me to read the Bible and know if the message aligned with scripture. Yes....from third grade on I was a disciple...not just a child. I thank God for my maternal grandfather!
