Burkina Faso Green Update #3 Thanks we are thankful for -Ceiling fans in the dining hall and the rooms we sleep! The temps average between 92 and 100 F, and with very little wind. -Mostly dependable electricity and running water, it turns off when least expected, but most of the time it is there. -Access to decent sit down style toilets and cold showers. (again... who cares in these temps!) -Screen doors and windows to keep out the flies, mosquitoes and 3 roaches! -Team unity. We honestly LOVE being together and are getting along fantastically. -We do hand laundry , cook and share meals, plan and do ministry together, etc., etc. -Safety. Our facility is fenced and gated and has several guards patrolling the grounds 24 hours a day. -Plenty of delicious, fresh mango!!! -Godly, gracious hosts here at City of Hope who are willing and anxious to do all they can to accomodate and help us! Our requests: -The lack of internet access. Power outages, broken equipment, language and equipment compatibility issues, availability. -We need more interpreters to translate our English to French, Moore, and Dioula.... the three most commonly spoken languages here. -Refrigeration for essential food items. -Stomach issues. A series of colds, 24 hr upset stomachs, bug bites, etc. seem to be making the rounds!Thankfully, nothing serious. Interesting story of the day; After a 35 minute bus ride from City of Hope to the days ministry site, an open field across the street from a church sponsored medical clinic, we found ourselves ready to perform our puppet, dance, and drama routines. We hoped to draw a crowd with which to meet people and create opportunities to share Christ. We had prayed specifically for God to provide a way for us to clearly present the Gospel. But as we began, we quickly realized we didnt have enough translators for the crowd that was beginning to form. Then, seemingly out of no where, a young white man, who no one recognized, was found to be among our group! How did this happen? Where did he come from? It ends up that his name was Jeremy, and he spoke perfect French, as he is a student from France, currently living here in Burkina Faso. When he saw our team of Westerners he decided to join us and see what was going on. All though he was not a professed follower of Jesus, when asked, he was happy to help our team with translation in our efforts to share the Good News of Christ with any and all who would listen. We thank God for Jeremy... and are praying that the good news he helped share will become a seed in his own heart that will grow into a new life in Christ for his joy and Gods glory!
