Burmese python I caught earlier this month with Ed and Lloyd in Everglades National Park. As an invasive species it was taken to the parks research center to be humanely euthanized, as mandated by our permits This has been a busy month for pythons with several snakes being caught each week by various agencies, and in my OPINION the numbers rising could be near the pre-2010 freeze amounts collected in the next few years. Im sure this opinion is offensive to some people, will probably start a few arguments, but with more and more burms being found, that is how I personally feel it is starting to look, although it would be interesting to see capture data charts over the next few years compared to pre 2010. Keep in mind that the heavy freeze we had a few years ago knocked back the python populations by a large percentage, but also acted as a massive selective event for cold tolerant genetics/behavior. Ever in motion, ever adapting, life will find a way.
