Burning Man Australia, Burning Seed Team Leads and crew wish to extend our love, support and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and Burner community of John Christopher Wallace, who killed himself on Saturday night by jumping into the Effigy fire at Utah’s regional Burn, Element11. Our Team Leads work hard to ensure that Burning Seed is a safe space in which to work and play, including strict perimeters around our Effigy and Temple fires. But this tragedy is a reminder that the explorative nature of Burning Seed comes with risks, and that we need to work together as a community to create a safe and supportive space for each other. You are our best resource for preventing injuries and other tragedies by looking out for each other, taking care of each other when needed, and notifying a Ranger or medic if you think there is a problem.
