Burns Night, 25th January, is a celebration of the birth of Scottish poet Robert Burns. At a traditional Burns Supper the Haggis is brought in on a silver platter ahead of a procession of people, including the chef and a piper. The guests all stand to welcome the Haggis and clap to the piper’s music. Somebody then reads out Robert Burns’ poem Address to a Haggis (1786) in a dramatic and entertaining way; and cuts the Haggis and holds it up high to enthusiastic applause from the guests! Heres the Scottish version and the English version - which one will you be using on Burns night? If you want to take part in the celebrations, Helen Bird is putting on a fantastic Burns Supper on Saturday 24th January at Bannatynes Hotel, dont miss out, book now! stmichaelshospice.org/get-involved/events/event-calendar/view/514/burns-supper
