Bush Fire Update - From the Rural Fire Service. - Hawkesbury Road Winmalee (Blue Mountains) Firefighters are working to fully contain a bush fire burning in the area around Winmalee and Hawkesbury Heights in the Blue Mountains. A Watch and Act alert is in place due to an increase in winds this afternoon. Current Situation - The fire has burnt through more than 900 hectares of bushland. The fire is not fully contained. Gusty winds are affecting the fire and there will be an increase in fire activity. Over 230 firefighters are working to consolidate containment lines around the fire in the Hawkesbury Road and Yellow Rock areas, including along the Nepean River. This includes backburning and the use of three waterbombing aircraft. Hawkesbury Road is now open however smoke is causing reduced visibility. Visit livetraffic for traffic information. - Tickner Road Castlereagh fire (Londonderry fire) Firefighters have contained a fire which burnt through around 1,100 hectares of scrub and bushland at Castlereagh and Londonderry Current Situation - The fire is now contained. Over 130 firefighters have consolidated containment lines around the fire through backburning operations. Crews will continue to monitor the fire throughout the day. Roads in the area have now reopened. - Grass Fire Grange Avenue Marsden Park Firefighters have contained a grass fire which has burnt through the area around Grange Road at Marsden Park. Current Situation -The fire is now contained. Firefighters will continue to monitor the fire today for any flareups. Roads in the area have now reopened.
