Content: A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people near Forrest Grove Road, Drummond Road and Sebbes Road in Forrest Grove in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River. The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as the fire is now contained. There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes. The fire started near Sebbes Road. BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR: The bushfire is stationery. It is contained but not under control. Firefighters are expecting the wind to change from south south easterly to easterly tonight. WHAT TO DO: Stay alert and monitor your surroundings. Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames. Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible. Read through your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse. IF DRIVING: Be extremely careful when driving through the area. Turn your headlights on and drive slowly. Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions. If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears. If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222. ROAD CLOSURES: Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site. WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING: Ninety volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service and Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters from number of six stations are on the scene. Firefighters are mopping up and strengthening containment lines. Three homes, a large haystack and one hundred head of cattle have been saved. Aerial support is no longer required. Shire of Augusta Margaret River are in attendance. EXTRA INFORMATION: The incident was reported at 3.15pm on Sunday 25 January. The cause of the fire is unknown. The fire has currently burnt 10 hectares. Smoke will travel as far as Gnarabup and Prevelley townsites this evening. People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is managing the fire.
