The Business Consultant has a principal responsibility to ensure delivery of ecommerce services on behalf of their business accounts; they develop business models which translate business requirements into conceptual technology solutions. They work closely with business decision makers to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. The Business Consultant will also be responsible for software testing, quality assurance and collaboration with the offshore team as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Strategy & Planning Participate in the development of product roadmaps for Alta’s proprietary SaaS platforms based on industry trends, client feedback and Alta’s strategic direction. Formulates Account Development Plans to develop business within specific accounts. Participate in the development of business proposals and may have some business development accountability within existing client base. Establish practices and procedures that work towards the continuous improvement of the business consulting framework. Execution and Service Delivery Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to the clients executive team and department leads. Ability to contribute to technology solutions by learning and/or applying incumbent knowledge based upon one or more of the following business processes or practices (depending upon role): Customer Relationship Management, Order Management and Payment Processing, eCommerce, Business Intelligence/Analytics, Membership/Loyalty. Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to the implementation teams. Create financial documents related to their client accounts, including cash flow and Profit & Loss statements. Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for eCommerce spending and initiatives. Conduct interviews and product analysis to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods. Where necessary, develop prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on findings. Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards. Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary. Conduct test cases established within the service level agreements and meet software testing adherence. Utilize site data to develop analytics and consumer insight reports and present report to clients. Assist in conducting research on industry direction and client needs to justify recommendations and to provide input into the product roadmaps for Altas services. Communication and Collaboration Collaborate with project managers and project sponsors to determine project scope and vision. Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and stakeholders regarding the status of the engagement. Develop and maintain relationships with client facing business and technology leaders. Work with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements. This will include working with business development in crafting proposals and working with finance on pricing. Develop and conduct peer reviews to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted. Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications – verbally or through written documentation to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood. Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members. Collaborate effectively with offshore testing team and communicate any key requirements as necessary.
