Business Lessons I Learnt from Playing Mobile App Game Named Clash of Clans Part 1 I have a confession to make, and that is, yes, I play games, from computer games to Nintendo to Playstation to now, Mobile App Games. I was a strong gamer, and started to play games when my parents bought me an IBM XT computer way back in 1985 when I was just 7 years old. As a matter of fact, I learnt all my computer and digital skills trying to install and beat the game. Then I moved on to consoles like the old school Nintendo with the cartridges, and then the Playstation 2 and then the Nintendo Wii and of course all the while having a PC Gaming machine. I just finished playing Child of Light, both for business research for my wifes online T-Shirt business, and for fun obviously. I finished the game in 10 hours in 2 days. And for the past 3 months, I have been playing this game called Clash of Clans, both for my Mobile App business research and also for fun, and surprisingly this game taught me loads of business stuff, from resource management to timing in taking opportunities. The best part, of it all, is, my wife plays it with me! I am not here to promote the game, but just to let you know that, through that game, which is very similar to StarCraft or Red Alert Command and Conquer, I learnt these business lessons: 1. Never attack the enemy camp without enough resources LESSON: Make sure you have cashflow and savings before doing investments or taking on a new business which requires resources to learn, hire and implement. 2. Always plan what resources or army/warriors need to be built before attacking the enemy camp LESSON: Use the right tools with LEVERAGE so that you can gain success faster and easier without much casualty and waste. 3. Know your resources, and what is the function of each resources. LESSON: By knowing your partners, resources and they strengths, you will be able to manage it well and use the right ones at the right time to fulfil its full potential. I have more of these, and I will reserve it for the next post after discussion with my wife on her learnings too. God Bless you and your family, and your ventures too.
