Businessman accuses councillor of vendetta over sign A PROMINENT Medowie business owner and would-be politician who received a $3000 fine for displaying advertising on his truck has accused a Port Stephens councillor of unfairly targeting him. John Robinson, who owns Thrifty Link Hardware in Medowie, says the fine came ‘‘out of the blue’’ and has accused councillor and fellow Medowie resident Geoff Dingle of being behind it, blaming a feud between the two. ‘‘I’m definitely being discriminated against and victimised,’’ he said. In Port Stephens, ‘‘vehicular signs’’ are prohibited if used for the purpose of advertising, and rangers issued Mr Robinson with the steep fine this month after his truck was parked beside the road near his business.
