Buster Buster is 18 months old and is ill in the vets. Last Saturday he started bleeding from one ear and on Sunday from his mouth and gums. Taken to the vet the diagnosis has proved difficult. His platelets (which make the blood clot) were zero! After various tests for infection and poisoning it has been narrowed down to a major problem with his bone marrow or a severe auto immune problem. Despite steroids, Vitamin K and antibiotics he is going downhill rapidly with today’s blood test also showing severe anaemia amongst other things. The vet thinks a blood transfusion may give him longer but not solve his problem so tomorrow we will make a decision on his future.
