Busy in Uganda traveling around meeting private practice midwives. This is a picture of Rose and she is showing me her monthly reporting. Did you know that these midwives do so much more than antenatal, labor and delivery and postnatal care. Most are the only health care within their communities with public facilities a ways off. They provide immunization, cervical cancer screening, malaria treatment, burns and injuries treatment, STD treatment including HIV testing. Mothers come in to have them fix the problems caused in the public facilities. Since the nurses and midwives are often so over-worked, they cant give personal care...just catch the babies. Its not their fault. But the reach and impact of these entrepreneurial women in endless. So proud to be doing this work. Also, here is a picture of my new little friend showing me his pet grasshoppers. Gotta love it!!
