Busy wee day yesterday for Ben @ Transrec delivering unbridled joy - TopicsExpress

Busy wee day yesterday for Ben @ Transrec delivering unbridled joy in the shape of classic BMWs to their new owners. Firstly this very tidy, very early - so early, in fact that Ive never seen a C registration 325i and questioned the seller at some length and did an ASAP VIN check before buying it - E30 325i with low mileage, low owners and an interesting history, having always resided in the same area and still proudly sporting its original Harry Fairbairn window sticker. Originally owned and kept by Fairbairns (Ayr, not Glasgow) as a demonstrator and thereafter by the same gentleman for 23 years or so, it is remarkably tidy, original and unmessed with - leaving aside the boot badging failure. If you were to be mind numbingly picky - and I know some of us can be - the body kit is marginally too new to have been factory fitted, but as a demonstrator, id guess Fairbairns retrofitted it to sell the car, It looks great and it drives superbly I piloted it up from Ayrshire and it was an absolute pleasure to drive, poised, light, responsive and plenty quick enough. All it really required were the standard bottle tops ditching to make room for a set of oh, so correct 14 BBS cross spokes and we think it is just gorgeous. Right colour, right bumpers, right engine, right wheels. Just right. And a WR of 3.0 to boot. It is cars like this one that every enthusiast should drive at least once to remind him or herself just how far ahead of the competition the E30 was in the early 80s. I knew of an MG Maestro back in the day that was C4?? HDS. Decent enough car and desireable enough in its own right, but in engineering and build quality, it might as well have been from the 60s compared to this. This car is now resident with its enthusiastic new owner in Aberdeen and we hope that he will have as many years of enjoyment from it as the previous owner did. Weve done the stereotype hairdresser jokes with the white convertible. We naturally felt obliged to put a pair of sheepskin seat covers in the boot.
