But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked - TopicsExpress

But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. Romans 1:18-20 (NLT) Starting with verse 18 and going through to Romans 3:20 Paul develops an argument that no one can claim to be through their own efforts or merit to be good in God’s sight-not the masses, nor the Romans, not even the Jews. All people everywhere deserve God’s condemnation for their sin. Why is God angry at sinful people? Because they have substituted the truth about him with a lie: Romans 1:25: “They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.” They have stifled the truth God naturally reveals to all people in order to believe anything that supports their own self-centered lifestyles. God cannot tolerate sin because His nature is morally perfect. He cannot ignore or condone rebellion. God wants to remove the sin and restore the sinner. He is able to as long as the sinner does not stubbornly distort or reject the truth. However God’s anger erupts against those who persist in sinning. We need to make certain that we are pursuing the truth rather than a lie. We must seek the true God. We are not to suppress the truth about Him merely to protect our own lifestyle. We cannot chose ala carte on how we are to serve God.
