But I say to you which HEAR, “Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you. Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And to him that smites you on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that takes away your cloak forbid not to take your coat also. Give to every man that asks of you; and of him that takes away your goods ask them not again” (Luke 6:27-30) How many of us naming the name of Jesus as Lord are doing this today? How many times have you said, “If it wasn’t for Jesus, I would…” or, “Thank God for Jesus because I would have…” or even, “Had you done this to me years ago I would have…”? So many of us are walking in PRIDE and ARROGANCE, believing ourselves to be humble. The walk in the Spirit isn’t easy, but it is doable – and without all the reminders of what YOU would do or would have done were you not SAVED. The fact that you ARE saved is enough in itself to OBEY these words of Jesus without any add-ons! Nobody cares what you were like before Christ or what you would do without Him. What people are looking for is the LIGHT of Jesus shining through you and in your life. If you continue to speak of darkness in relationship to yourself – not as a testimony of deliverance – but rather, as a warning not to do this, that, or the other to you – how are YOU representing the Savior acting CONTRARY to what the above scriptures say? Either represent Him all the way, or don’t represent Him at all!
