But NO mention of warfare, terrorism, killing, or FGM. And absolutely NO indication of how they plan to achieve this. Will they each be praying to their respective gods, supplemented (according to sect) with burning candles or slaughtering animals? Or will they all be rolling up their sleeves? In Double Cross (2006) David Ranan writes (p.117): Slavery was never considered unlawful, evil or immoral by the Catholic Church. She had to be dragged to condemn slavery in Second Vatican Council (1963-1965). ... The Pope (Pius VII) ... continued to hold that slavery itself, which was approved of in the Old Testament, was not against the natural law. ... Indeed, the Church, religious orders and even popes bought, sold and owned slaves. There are records which specify purchases of slaves made by Pope Gregory I (590-604), which indicate that the Pope took care to buy slaves cheaply. Ranan devotes several pages to this topic. On p. 118 he notes that in 1826 there was documentary evidence of the substantial number of slaves Maryland Jesuits held at the time.
