But godliness with contentment is great gain. (1 Timothy 6:6) Paul, the servant of God, tells in Philippians 4:12, “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” Paul could say that because he was God’s child. Whatever situation might befall him, he believed as found in Romans 8:28 that in all things God would work for the good of those who love Him. As stated in Deuteronomy 23:5, the Lord will turn all our curses into blessings. There was an honest manager in a company. He never wasted even a paise that belonged to the office. This was a hindrance to the other staff working there. “As long as this man stays here, we shall not be able to do anything. Let us get rid of him”- so saying, they somehow chased the manager out of the company. His heart was burdened. He said, “How sincere I was! Why should I be made to face such pain and shame? Where is God?” At that time, an advertisement in the newspaper caught his attention. He comforted himself and went to that office. The employers who interviewed him were pleased with him and so they asked him what his expected salary was. “Sir, it’s enough if you give me Rs. 1,500.” But they answered with a smile, “Sir, we are going to appoint you as the chief of a unit in our company. Whether you like it or not, we would pay you Rs. 10,000 with other facilities like a car and a house.” He couldn’t believe his ears. Only then he realized, “On the one side, it was summer- days of tears! On the other, God has worked all things together for good.” Dearly beloved! Are you crying today? There is a time to cry and a time to laugh! When we become the children of Lord Jesus, in this changing world, He will work all things together for our good. The Bible says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). He shall restore to us all the blessings we have lost at the earliest. Prayer: Loving Lord Jesus, I trust in You and choose to lead a godly life by thanking You for all the good things You have provided me. Please continue to bless me abundantly. Make all things to work together for my good. Turn all my curses into blessings. In Your matchless name I pray.
