But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. (Luke 10:29–31) Who is your neighbor? The one that God “by chance” put in your path. It is easy to get overwhelmed when you think of the world’s problems. How can you make a difference to those imprisoned in foreign nations? Other than prayer, most of us will not. But God places people in each of our paths that we can help, and then we choose whether to pass them by and carry on with our busy day, or take a moment to show them the love of Jesus. When you are busy, it is so easy to get upset at that unexpected knock at the door, to send that phone call to voicemail, to walk on past that person asking for help. Many today are beaten down, poor, naked and abandoned, and all while wearing a suit at work. Be mindful of the one that God puts in your path, for they are your assignment. (Paraphrased from The Daily Word of Hope Devotional, with Pastor Dion Todd) **after-word...ME We are all guilty of this. Blowing someone off, because its not convenient to take some time with them, at that moment. Even I have ignored phone calls, when Ive donned my pajamas. (Even though its not yet 9pm :(/) But, I want you to think about something. How would YOU feel if it were you on the other end of that phone, in need of a word of encouragement, a friendly voice in the storm...a PRAYER??? And whom God puts on our path, He put there for a specific reason. Do you really want to miss Gods plan for your life, because its inconvenient? You might. Take the time. Its too important. To God, to that person, and most especially to you. You never know what may transpire, until you do what God has asked you to do. Have A God Monday, and a Great Week!
