But if you can earn the money while you travel, why not? But indeed if you work on it, it is possible! In my younger days in early 90s, I once traveled from Stockholm to Geneva by train passing thru various countries and cities with only USD 300 in my pocket which I saved from the stipend I got attending a training course in Uppsala University, visiting friends and former officemates, and sleeping on the train along the way, eating wurst and frittes only and refilling my water bottle in drinking fountains. In my early 20s while finishing my MSc in Otago University, I also hitched a ride with a friend from Dunedin to Wellington, New Zealand. I took a summer job in the Ministry of Works and spent all my earnings visiting Filipino scholars in universities all over the north Island pasing thru Waikato, Massey, then Auckland! Then I worked in a Fish and Chips shop as well as in a Creche (day care for kids) and on week-ends and term breaks picking mushrooms with friends in Lincoln University in Christchurch just to save money to visit some south pacific islands like Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and I almost reached Kiribati! Life can be an adventure of travels if you have the heart and the wits and the faith and trust in the Lord that he shall protect and provide for you! My life has been a life of learning and travels and I am so greatful to God! This is the reason why I have the job I have today, in exchange of the fame and promising future I had in government, and leaving the civil service at a young age of 38 at salary grade level 27 and a CESO Rank IV! Who knows, I could have been corrupted like many of them now!
