But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth - Colossians 3:8. The Bible pertains to every issue of life including our communication. How do you speak to your spouse and family members? What types of words do you use? Words that tear down or words that build up? The challenge to you this month is to read Colossians chapter 3 and meditate on it, and begin to act it out. That chapter, among others tell us exactly how we should talk to one another. It is no surprise that Apostle Paul, by the inspiration of God, admonishes husbands and wives in that same chapter. Basically everything he tells us not to do is exactly the state of marriages and families across the earth today, even for those who claim to be Christians. He states that once you become born again, you must work on ensuring that your flesh dies with the old man and ensure that everything you do, including your speech glorifies God. Even if you may be single now, watch how you communicate with others - does it please God? How effective your communication is, determines how peaceful your home will be. Even when you have differences of opinion, does it degenerate to yelling and screaming? Once it goes there, the whole essence of communication is lost. This month, learn to use wise and uplifting words no mater who you may be speaking to, and no matter what you may be speaking about. It would make all the difference in your home. Always remember that harsh words stir up anger/strife. I believe that the Holy Spirit will help you accomplish this in Jesus name!
