But this clip made me sad. Right after enjoying the Pure Joy of that young girl dancing underground in a NYC Subway, I saw how this street musician was being harassed by a NYC Policeman. But FIRST the cop reads out loud the exact statute that permits this Street Musician to play: Section 1050.6c, which Ill now quote: The following nontransit uses ARE PERMITTED by the Authority, provided they do not impede transit activities and they are conducted in accordance with these rules: Then theres this long list of stuff you CAN DO which includes and now Ill quote again: . . . artistic performances, including the acceptance of donations. Now this musician was not a threatening person. He wasnt even a person of color! He was just some polite itinerant guy trying to make a buck while he entertains his fans as they wait for their subway train. If you watch the clip youll see that this was all about EGO! I do understand that the police have a very difficult job, particularly in a place like NYC and I do understand that you need a big ego, and a lot of self-confidence to do work like this well, day in and day out. And maybe this policeman was just having a bad night. We all have those, but there should never be an excuse for BULLYING THE PUBLIC, and for me at least thats what this felt like. Its from these smaller things, that larger problems grow. If a community ENJOYS their police, they can work hand in hand to help each other. (Thats pretty much the situation where we live here in Bayside, NY by the way) But once you become Day-To-Day Adversaries well that just doesnt help anybody. Not the police and certainly not the community for which they have been hired to serve and not abuse. https://facebook/video.php?v=780089462050842
