But wait, theres more! Stockton Street in Union Square Becomes a Plaza for the Holidays for the next 4 years.... Union Square - if you havent been there lately you might be interested to know - has a temporary installation of 30,000 square feet of artificial lawn installed along Stockton Street. Two blocks have been transformed for the holidays and have been converted into a pedestrian plaza. Theres also a light show and food trucks. From the Winter Walk website: Union Square SF presents Winter Walk – an inviting open plaza in the heart of Union Square. For one month (Nov. 28-Jan. 1, 2014), two blocks of Stockton Street will be open for winter merriment with a nightly light art show projected on the Macys Mens Building featuring Jack Frosts adventures as he spreads festive icicles throughout San Francisco. Expect caroling, demos and other wintery surprises like Ghariradelli chocolate samples, appearances by the Macys SPCA window puppies and these events and activities: Carolers & Musicians Every Thursday and Saturday afternoon in December, enjoy live caroling and festive music. Heres the Schedule: Dec. 4 & 18, 4-8 pm: Dickens Fair Carolers - Come and meet carolers and characters from the Great Dickens Christmas Fair and Victorian Holiday Party, transported from the 1880s London into Union Square to offer you glimpse into the sights and sounds of the Charles Dickens England! Dec. 27, 4-8 pm: Hot Kugel - Bay area Klezmer ensemble. Their music is a blend of traditional Klezmer with the musical styles of old time jazz, ethnic folk, theater and American popular music, as well as blues, rock and reggae. Dec. 20 & 23, 4-8 pm: Karla Mi Lugo - accordion player, jazz vocalist, world class whistler and bonified vaudevillian. She plays french jazz inspired original songs and often features her one of a kind insturment the Whisholin, a spectacular whistilng violin. Dec. 20, 10 am -12 pm: San Francisco Conservatory of Music: Music to Go Off the Grid Food Trucks Off the Grid will be on hand for lunch and dinner service every other day of the week (11-2 pm Mon. Wed. Fri. Sun. & 5-8 pm Mon. Fri. Sun.), as well as three special night events with live music (6-8 pm on 12/3, 12/10, 12/17) and a Christmas Eve lunch party (Dec. 24, 12-4 pm).
