But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. (1 John 2:20, 27 KJV) Is it possible to pray without ceasing? What does that mean? Are we capable of being anointed (empowered, equipped, enabled, given authority) at all times? How does that work? I dont have all the answers and I have never insinuated that I know it all. I am convinced and do believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that when we line our life up in agreement with Gods word - God will give us the desires of our heart. Two main veins of thought on praying without ceasing: 1. Being in a constant attitude of prayer (not necessarily praying aloud but also under our breath as God knows even our thoughts). 2. Perseverance (not giving up, steadfastly believing until the answer comes). Anointing literally means to pour/smear on. When we speak of anointing of the Holy Spirit, we are not necessarily talking about olive oil being poured upon the individual but rather the enabling/empowering touch of God on and in the believer. One person put it like this: God enabling flesh to do what flesh cannot do. If anyone would have known about the anointing of God it would have been John. Miracles he saw, the revelation he received, the letters of instruction he wrote.... all of the testify of the anointing in his life. Now he has the boldness to tell us that that same anointing is in us. It doesnt just come and go like the weather.... sunny one day, cloudy the next, rainy another. This precious anointing abides in us RIGHT NOW! Some of us have been taught and instructed that there is no anointing at all, others have been told that anointing has to be worked up. In all truthfulness, the Spirit filled believer (I am talking about the believer that has up to date, good fellowship/communion with the Lord) has the anointing in them at all times. Whatever the circumstance, situation, issues of life today.... Gods grace is sufficient and the anointing of the Holy Spirit abiding within us enables us to handle every fiery dart the devil throws our way. Almighty Lord God, we are so thankful for your peace that you give us. The anointing of your Holy Spirit does not have to be worked up, primed up, delivered by FedEx or UPS.... Its at work in us! Some are realizing this for the first time in their Christian walk. Thank you God, for this wonderful revelation of who we are through Jesus Christ and the confidence it brings.
