Butler County has lost a total 855 lives to suicide since 1990 - thats nearly 40 people each year. And Ohio ranks 35th in the nation for its suicide rate (12.7 deaths per 100,000 population) and had around 1,400 people take their own lives last year. The crisis hotline - which receives more than 550 calls a month - is meant to handle any type of mental health crisis and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and on holidays.
