Butler Winter X 2015 Welcome to our 3rd annual snowboard and - TopicsExpress

Butler Winter X 2015 Welcome to our 3rd annual snowboard and ski competition, with a shredfest theme of incorporating both the shred of powder and shred of guitars!! A community event with live music, local and regional sponsors, a competition for local and regional riders, and a long time idea of an event that would bring more than just childhood good times and memories to the abandoned slopes of Sawmill... it brings a progressive event that unites these entities, and welcomes the only competition of its kind in the area. This is something to be proud of, and something your all welcome to be a part of. It is free and open to the community, but we do ask respectfully for a small donation of $3 per person, or $6 per family unit of 3 or more... We have give aways from our sponsors all day long, in various fashions, at various times, so get there early! Sign the guest sheet, and GET LOUD AS FANS FOR OUR RIDERS!!!! Also, since this is an awareness event, the purpose is to bring the community out to enjoy, participate, and spectate winter sports and our old slopes... So weather pending, we want to see you out riding the other hills on site.. bring the kids and sleds.. set the tone! Long term goals include expansion, donating to the park for projects, educating and possibly petitioning and planning to get a modern rope tow put in, and collaborate on a Butler Summer X concept. 9AM starts entry, sign ups, free ride on the course, and firing up food and music. At NOON live music starts with this years two featured bands, Lucky Lad Green Irish Rock and Butlers gentlemen band Cape Cod set to return! No Hip Hop is planned, but it is very possible to have a surprise appearance. Free ride still in effect until 1PM. ONE PM. 1PM. After, wed like to summarize sign ups, groom course and finish last minute build adjustments to start the competition before 2PM. TWO PM. 2PM. BEFORE IF POSSIBLE. Well be cooking outside on the open pit all day, with chicken and burgers, and not those cheap quality sangwhichs, were talking good hot tasty handfuls with fixens and last years famous fire blue sauce.. Our guys Rob and John will be taking control of the pit all day again, with some additional help, provisions, and sponsorship backup from Butler Hot Dog Shoppe and W. Ricks. There may be even more... stay tuned for updates on the event page. Hot beverages will provided inside, and were still working on options for cold drinks, energy drinks, etc.. 3rd annual appearance of our Pyrot DJ is in place, and will be pumping out the knar requests all morning, in between bands, and to close out the event in the afternoon. Make sure you look for the poll question on the page to get your musical requests in. We plan to have Sirkus Dayz Fire Spinning crew return for a demo, however will be planning to have it during the day due to lack of crowd sticking around after dark. Theyll also be in charge of fire maintenance in pits and on the grounds.. they are the pyro pros after all. Ok, the competition. We are starting no later than 2PM, and no earlier than 1PM. As always, format is subject to change pending riders and conditions, but we are planning a Jam Format. For snowboarders, we have a JR and SR class planned, based on rider experience and skill level, not necessarily age. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes awarded for each class. Prizes will be announced as confirmed from our sponsors, this will go on up until the day of the event, so keep posted. Ski Comp, last year we didnt see enough of you come out to break up the class, and with only a handful or so of entrys, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd all won brand new sets of skis... NOT TOO BAD!! It is doubtful we will have that occur again, but again, well be posting prizes as confirmed. Well plan for Ski Class to be the same rail jam format, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, NO JR and SR classes, only one class. Youll have from 9am until 1pm to free ride the course and sign up for the respective comp. Entry fee for rail jam comp is $10.00, no exceptions, no discriminations. Last year everyone who signed up received some kind of give away, almost everyone received something worth $10, so please dont bring negativity and complain about the price. Ok, Big Air, weather pending, snow donation pending, and sponsored prize pending, Boarders and Skiers should plan for a Big Air event. Better than last years if we do so. No JR and SR, just one class for each sport. It will be jam format as well, with all riders getting a chance to return to the top, get in line, and raise their average with their score totals. Prize will be awarded to winner of each, with smaller prizes for the later places pending participation. Again, everyone received something last year, so be assured it will be awarded fairly and based on judges collective conscience. We even awarded a best wipe out. We wont call him out by name, your welcome ;) This entry will also be $10. We will offer a day pass for initial entry of both competitions at a cost of $16. **Anyone riding in the competition will have to register and pay, and anyone riding the course at all throughout the free ride OR comp will ALL have to complete the waiver. Anyone under the age of 18 will have to have a parent present to sign waiver. We may allow riders over the age of 15 take a waiver home to have their parents sign, but youll have to talk with our lovely ladies at the information desk the morning of the event. Anyone 14 and under MUST have a parent present to sign waiver for BOTH riding the course AND/OR entering competition. Anyone under 14 MUST have parent present during competition. Lastly, we would highly recommend helmets be worn, and must require that anyone under 18 wear helmets during the competition. Apologies, but liabilities must be met in order to respectfully secure our townships support for very kindly letting us use the township park for such an event! And its just safe practice. With that said , *** Township Park rules are in effect all day, just as any other time**** Any question on this matter contact Bruce Bryner. We will have a small and cool security staff, keeping an eye on everything so we dont have to worry about anyone ruining the event for everyone else. Riders, like last year, there should be a snowmobile or two towing riders from the bottom back up... this is also weather pending. Everyone be prepared for a cold day, its winter. We have a lodge open with a fire place, hot beverages, and outside fires. Stay warm and dress for the occasion, its the warm thing to do. Also stay hydrated, dont ride beyond your skill set, and just dont be stupid :) These are preliminary event details, and subject to be updated. Be sure to take a look at the links on the event page feed from the last the two years for pics, sponsors, riders, etc... Without you, without our awesome local and sport sponsors, we couldnt have made this idea come true. Several of us guys stopped talking about it, reached out, and with your help made it happen. Thanks everyone. From Bruce, executive coordinator and operator of North East Sound West... special thanks to Colin and Nate for putting the idea into motion, and all of our bros believing in it and helping for virtually nothing than the satisfaction of watching it come together.. hours of shovel, raking, snowblowing, etc, you guys are the best and the heart of this operation... Thanks for anyone and everyone who has believe in it, and has continued to support myself and other North East Sound West initiatives. A special mention to our township commissioners for working with us make such an operation possible, it means a lot. Stay posted. Tubular.
