Butterfly Born in a sigh The butterfly flies Love’s embrace gave birth Breathed heart into my life In the depths hides her fear It takes courage to dive Cupid’s arrow stings My scars stay alive My eyes wide open Her lids closed too tight And so this is the misery Struggle to go on with life To say too little Is the form of her lie A truthful life lived Is how the shadow hides Instinct dressed up Unconditional love-like Obligation so created Bound by soft velvet ties And so your dreams whisper My trust is your soul’s butterfly But butterflies mate Just before they die Chris Jasch The Reluctant Poet
