Buttermilk Biscuits Ingredients 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus some for dusting work station 1 TABLESPOON baking powder 2 teaspoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 stick of butter, chilled, PLUS..1/2 stick butter, melted or use “I can’t believe it’s not butter spray. healthier 3/4 cup buttermilk Directions 1 Preheat oven to 450 degrees 2 Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt into a bowl. 3 Cut in the 1 stick of chilled butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 4 Add buttermilk all at once and stir just until dough clings together. 5 Gently knead dough about 10-12 times on a floured surface (I use my electric stand mixer and mix all the ingredients). 6 Pat dough out to 1/2-inch thick. 7 Cut dough straight down with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter (I use a coffee mug.. perfect round biscuits and perfect size) 8 Using pastry brush, brush melted butter on tops of biscuits (I use “I can’t believe it’s not butter spray and spray the tops of the biscuits.. Healthier) 9 Use parchment paper and line baking sheet.. makes perfect biscuits and NEVER burns biscuits. 10 Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden. Notes: I use my electric stand mixer~ put all the ingredients in and mix....not over mix but combine with a few more spins.......then put it on counter, pat dough and roll out~ brush on some melted butter or spray I cant believe its not butter spray-fold over and spray or brush melted butter again-fold over then spray or brush butter again ......then pat out and use my biscuit cutter which is a coffee mug...then put on baking sheet and cook............
