Buying and selling horses must be the most stressful thing - TopicsExpress

Buying and selling horses must be the most stressful thing ever! I must admit Ive met some lovely people and made a few friends on the way :-) But the amount of dodgy scamming people never cease to amaze me! Used car salesman have far better guidelines and laws to help protect the public! I feel so sorry for the genuine people out there who are trying to sell their horses to good homes, the amount of nut Jobs out there that want a horse but have no idea whats involved in the up keep of a horse or how to humanely treat an animal. Then you have the other side of the coin, the people selling horses for a quick buck with no regard to the horses future, or the safety to the new owner! I know its subjective to what one person thinks about a horse to what another does, and that horse that was sold as quiet is now a lunatic is not necessarily the fault of the person selling it. It can be a range of factors that include the new owner is not knowledgeable about the horses needs, physically, emotionally or what it should be fed. Its the dodgy people who only tell half truths or flat out lie that annoy me, not to mention the ones who drug/sedate or hide a condition or ongoing illness from the new owner. How many people I wonder have been killed or severely injured due to scan artists? I know I could have been killed on more than one occasion. Some people just dont have a conscious! Or what about the number of horses that end up as dog food due to people selling unsuitable horses to inexperienced people who think the horse is bad or dangerous and nothing to do with the fact that they dont know what theyve got themselves into, or how to fix the problem. As most of you know, I was the person who was sold the drugged horse that was supposed to be ;suitable for a beginner which could not be further from the truth! By having this done to me, I now am suspicious of any one selling a horse! Which is not fair to the genuine people out there. I have been lucky enough to have a vast range of knowledgeable horsey friends who have helped me improve my skills and knowledge, and I learn more every day. I feel so sorry for the other people and horses, who have not had the support I have :-(
