By 2025 almost 2 billion people will suffer from some kind of fresh water shortages. The boringly predicatable response from leftists it to decry Nestle and other big corporations from even hinting that water might be a marketable commodity. All they can see is a world of hydroScrooges and legions of poor Tiny Tim like waifs, dying from dehydration while rich greedy manipulators profit from their misery. I have gotten used to this nonsense. It is the way the left t̶h̶i̶n̶k̶s̶, emotes, and I have become accustomed to just go around it, like stepping over a pile of dog poo in the road. Dogs just crap on thoroughfares and it is ridiculous to waste your emotional energy getting angry at them. However, the real solution to this real problem is cutting loose the technological innovation that capitalism ALWAYS brings, and figuring out a way to efficiently and economically desalinate seawater. Were this to happen, not only will our present and foreseeable water problems be solved, but huge arid uninhabitable sections of the planet could be made hospitable for food production and habitation. Right now the energy required to run seawater thru a series of reverse osmosis membranes (the best technology there is... at present) is cost prohibitive. What if we could figure out a way to RO it cheaper.... or figured out a way to do it without osmosis? This issue is indicative of the huge difference in thought here. One group takes their cues from emotive, envy laden, citizens CONVINCED they are righteous warriors battling the forces of evil and insisting that the best way to do that is with the hammer fist of the state, outlawing oppression and exploitation and then licensing and funding state run shops with (SURPRISE SURPRISE!!) come up with centralized, state central, state funded avenues for technology to address the problem. The other road of thought is that money is a more effective, faster and ultimately more compassionate way of fixing problems... Let people chase it, and make it when they find a way to bring what people want and need faster, cheaper, and better. One group relies on history, the other on ideology. I will let you guess which is which.
