By Bob Muriuki Two cousins were early this week attacked by a thug at the basement of Nyahururu Thompson Falls where they had gone for sightseeing after visiting Nyahururu town. Unknown to the thug, he was captured in a photograph they had just taken. The world famous Thompson Falls is one of the popular tourist destinations in the region which is expected to fetch enormous revenue for Laikipia County government. One of the victims Denis Maina was stabbed with a dagger in the stomach as he protected his cousin Neema Wamaitha from a solitary rapist. Maina said they paid Laikipia government workers fee at the gate and then climbed down the stairs where they would enjoy themselves and have fun. He had come from Parklands Nairobi to visit the cousin in Nyahururu but said he would not leave without visiting the falls. “As my cousin Neema took a picture of me along a bushy staircase, a man emerged from behind wearing a grey jacket and a green cap. He claimed that one of his friend’s had been killed there and he wanted to revenge,” said Denis adding that the thug started threatening them and ordered them to give all what they had. “We gave him money and phones but he returned phones and took the money. He then ordered me to go down the stairs alone and leave Neema with him. After making a few strides I saw him trying to unzip Neema’s pair of trousers and I ran back,’ he said. Neema said the man stabbed Maina with a dagger and a fight ensued between them as she ran upstairs screaming. She said Maina overpowered the thug, wrestled him to the ground and he rolled down a steep gradient into the bushes. Maina climbed up in quickly to follow Neema. Maina was then taken to Nyahururu district hospital where he was stitched and discharged. thecountytimes.co.ke
