By-By-By-elections! We hope you haven’t forgotten that last - TopicsExpress

By-By-By-elections! We hope you haven’t forgotten that last month, Suthep Thuagsuban and eight other Democrats resigned from their MP posts (3 from BKK, 5 from South and 1 Party list). What comes after some MPs resign? By-elections (elections for the empty MP spots)! By-elections also act as public opinion indicators where is gives the chance for the opposition party undermine the Gov’t if they win. Remember the Don Muang by-election when the Democrats campaigned their heart out to win a Red seat?? However, these by-elections, scheduled for 22nd Dec, are rather peculiar. Registry are held between 2nd-6th Dec and so far only SIX candidates have applied for the eight available seats. So far, the Democrats have yet to field any candidates, enforcing their stance regarding the sudden twist to the rejection of democracy. Ironically, they have yet to change their name. Puer Thai announced they will boycott these elections - wise move to retreat in these heavily Democrat-leaning territories. So who on earth are running?? It is zombie-like in BKK. Though, it is noteworthy that Rak Thai Party have fielded a candidate in one of the districts. And for now he looks VERY likely to win...that may be because he is the only one running. For those of you who are not familiar with the Rak Thai Party, this party belongs to the outspoken/feisty man boasting a smart mustache and a name of Chuwit, a politician renowned for his fearless attitude and involvement in the let-me-pleasure-you industry. It is also quiet elsewhere outside BKK. Zilch in Chumpon, Trang and Surat. Only one candidate in Songkla and a two-(dark)horse race in Nakhon Sri Thamarath. If you’re bored and feeling YOLO, why not rock up to the registry and apply? We’re sure you will play a vital part in this currently dysfunctional Parliament.
