By Christie Southern Fallin addresses Workforce and Economic Development Council Gov. Mary Fallin addressed members of her Workforce and Economic Development Council during a meeting Friday at Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City campus. The council, composed of business, education and state leaders, is tasked with developing creative solutions that expand and improve Oklahoma’s workforce, promote a stronger economy, and make the state more globally competitive. Fallin addressed council members on the efforts of her administration to reach those goals both in the state and nationwide by focusing on education. “I want to make Oklahoma a great place to live, work, raise a family and invest,” she said. “We have all these qualities as a state but we also need to have a great workforce. “It is my belief that improving educational outcomes and improving education attainment levels and the skills we have in our workforce is probably the most important issue facing our state right now; in fact, I’ll even go a step further and say this is one of the most important issues facing our nation,” Fallin continued to say. “I believe it so much that I have taken the issue on nationally.”
