By Deen Gauranga Das mahad-vicalanaà nèëäà gåhiëäà déna-cetasäm niùçreyasäya bhagavan kalpate nänyathä kvacit "O my lord, O great devotee, persons like you move from one place to another not for their own interests but for the sake of poor-hearted grahastas [householders]. Otherwise they have no interest in going from one place to another." In Kali-yuga the most difficult thing is to maintain relationships. With some common interest two persons comes close to start a relationship, but soon they start disliking each other. This happens because of lot of expectations from each other. Imbalance of expectations creates doubts in relations. Healthy relations mean no expectations or have reasonable expectations. E.g. Mother serving her child. Unless we keep our motive in relationship clear — I want to love and serve rather than demand service from others — we will get frustrated in short time. In the process of giving others we will receive such satisfaction that eventually we will be unwilling to accept any kind of reciprocation from them fearing a loss of relationship. It’s difficult but true. People in the West, despite having all facilities to enjoy, couldn’t understand why they were experiencing unhappiness. Later they found out that those who are busy in serving and helping others are actually truly blissful. A perfect devotee has no needs. He is always full (apurya manam acalam pratistham) E.g. a perfect patriot always thinks of country. So if we live with high degree of integrity, everyone will like to have a relationship with us. So devotee should first fix his mind on Krishna without any gross and subtle attachments. It will come by always thinking about Him. Just like Rajahamsa (swan ) always wants his neck stuck in the stem of lotus flower, while drinking the nectar from roots similarly devotee also wants to fix his mind at the lotus feet of Krishna. At the time of death it’s very difficult to think of Krishna, so make practice of it. Then we should use our intelligence (madyaji) in service of Krishna. Nanda Maharaj used his body, mind, words and heart to welcome garga muni to please him; similarly we should try to please Krishna and his devotees. Our love is going to be tested.eg shivanand sen , he did so much hard work to help devotees accommodation in yatras. But got kick on his chest by Lord Nityananda. Shrivas Thakur son died while Lord Caitanya was in ecstasy. Still he didn’t get overwhelmed by attachment. That is the integrity towards Lord. Whatever happens when one remains loyal to Krishna then he is successful.
