By Hamid Gbawuru Marah: In addition to that awesome update by Amara, I want us all to note a couple of crucial points: 1. If you remember in our recent updates we had discussed the need for formalization. As such, weve been working behind the scenes on key targets towards attaining a formal and legal status. Registration of the organization as a charitable non-profit org and opening of the account have been the most paramount...and weve made unbelievable progress on both fronts, without losing sight of our current goal - not one bit. The first step of the registration was the approval of the name by the Secretary of states office. And we needed to open the bank account only under a name approved for registration. KAE was unfortunately not available as a name but Sustainable Empowerment for the People of Koinadugu (STEP-K) was suggested and was available. We feel this name fits both our short term goal of eradicating Ebola in the district and our long term goal of serving as a human development platform for Koinadugu and her people, so we went for it. We hope this name will receive your endorsement, as having your approval in every step we take is the only way we know and the only way forward. The account was therefore opened under this name. 2. No withdrawal is authorised from the account presently, and that was a strict and formal instruction given to the bank upon opening the account. The account is set to have three signatories, an A signatory that would sign with either of two B signatories. Until we all endorse the signatories and the required documents are provided to that effect to the bank, withdrawal would be impossible. The following names of folks on the ground have been suggested as signatories to the account: Hamid Gbawuru Marah; Fatmata Dambata Binta Jalloh (Big FBJ); and, Amara Kallon This is subject to your endorsement with clear reasoning. Also note that we are in the process of creating a website to expand our inclusiveness, broaden our participation and reinforce our accountability.
