By Kure Tashilane -Nigerian Newsday Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has enjoined youths to key into government peace initiatives through various groups by disseminating peace-inclined messages to different parts of the state. The governor made the assertion last week at the Government House conference hall when he was addressing youth associations on the aegis of; Christians Youth Mobilization Outreach, Middle Belt Forum and Catholic Youth Movement who were there to commiserate with him on the security challenge that befell Lafia. Al-Makura thanked the youth associations for being patriotic and sympathetic over the plight of the state, he urged them to use their various groups in moving the state forward in their outreaches. He admonished the people of the state not to lose sight of peace and be optimistic that tomorrow would be better than today which according to him could only be achieved through loving and solidarity acts. “It is for this reasons that I would like you to use the vehicle of either an out-reach association, organization or a forum to reach out to some of our brothers and sisters out there, and inform them about the crisis, their stake and government efforts in bringing it to an end” he said. The governor also announces government commitment on the re-settlement of displaced persons soon after putting security measures in place. In his remarks, the state chairman Christians Youths Mobilization Out-reach Mr. Danladi Soja, Kingsley Jaccob from Catholic Youth Movement and the president Middle Belt Forum Pius Attah all sued for joint efforts in curtailing the menace youth restiveness which they identified as the factor fueling communal conflicts in the state. In their separate summations, the youth leaders all dissociated themselves from the widely spread notion that the current security challenge being experienced in some parts of the state was a religious war. They posited that all the communal incursions and counter incursions where purely ethnic and not religious as widely been peddled adding that they are out to enlighten the christen youths of the state not to allow themselves to be use by mischief makers on the guise of anything.
