By MARK B. HANSEN Mason City (3) Comments Imagine my surprise when I found myself in a conversation about local politics. It was said that the Foster brothers were managing Jodi Draper’s campaign for City Council and that she was working with Marquardt and Weaver. It was a huge surprise for me, since I am on the committee and my wife, Mary Beth Greenan, is her campaign manager. We have been meeting for 10 months with Jodi on campaign strategy. I asked where they had gotten their information and they stated that the mayor gave those details as a statement of fact on his recent radio program on KGLO. The mayor knows the truth and used this venue to present misinformation. At this point in the election cycle, it is critical that the public receive accurate information in order to make informed voting decisions. Early on in the campaign, the committee made a strategic decision to remain independent. The main reason being; that no one knows the outcome of the election. Candidates will have to work with whoever is elected. Jodi is a team player, but to quell any perception of collusion, undue influence, conflict of interest or hidden agendas, we felt it wise to proceed in this way. Jodi is one of the few candidates since my late mother-in-law, Mary Frances Greenan, served on the City Council to understand that bashing and disrespecting other candidates is counterproductive and just plain wrong. My dad was mayor of my hometown and I never witnessed anything thing like this from him, either. On Nov. 5 you have a clear choice to vote for a decent, upstanding, person of integrity, whose only agenda is to serve the people. Vote Draper for Second Ward. The change we need – the voice we deserve.
