By Mike Van Sickle Contributing editor OELWEIN - The Fayette County Supervisors approved creating a development agreement on between the County and Viafield Cooperative. The Supervisors approved moving forward with the agreement after hearing no input for or against the project from the public. The resolution includes Fayette County providing tax-increment financing to the local cooperative in a total not to exceed $2.6 million. The Viafield project includes the construction of new grain-loading facilities, including railroad improvements from the Transco rail yard to Highway 3 northwest of Oelwein. Fayette County Economic Development Director Bill Ziegler expressed his gratitude to the Supervisors for their support of the project on Monday. He credited the Supervisors’ early dialogue with Viafield officials in helping the cooperative to obtain its financing for the project. The actual percentage/tax payments and other terms of the development agreement will be considered at a later Supervisors meeting. I
