By Pamela Jones Now days, you dont hear very many stories about people doing good things for others. I witnessed first-hand true kindness, sacrifice, and generosity over the last couple of months. Last year, Brittany mentioned to David and I that Jared Henson was hoping to get Kaity elected as Prom Queen this year. At the time, we kind of overlooked it...a few months ago I got a phone call Ill never forget; Jared, along with some key junior/senior girls were on a mission. A group of kids, including Madison Coates, Kearsta Bill Ornellas, and Megan Bishop reached out to Tyann Hallock & Holly Jones and explained what they were hoping to accomplish. Things like this are unheard of; as I was on the phone with Tyann, tears streaming at the kindness being shown to my daughter, I was moved. Seeing personally the process unfold, hearing Kaity was nominated for Prom Court, having so many people come up to me & tell me how excited they were for Kaity...its been indescribable. I heard their was a Twitter campaign for Kaity, and so many kids encouraging others to vote for Kaity. The selflessness Kearsta, Kennedy Cole and Liz Bishop showed yesterday was amazing. All 3 of those girls were willing had their name been called, to give the crown & sash to Kaity. This doesnt happen just anywhere. As I watched my daughter cheer after her name was called (and immediately lost my, ummmm, composure), I missed something incredible. I was focused on Kaity; around us, Jared Henson & Madison Coates had immediately jumped up & started cheering. Then the entire student body followed...as did the entire parent section. I cannot tell all of you how much you touched my heart. Kaity, and all of our family, will never forget the kindness and love shown to us. Kaitlyn Jones has always been special to us. Her Aspbergers has always made us a little apprehensive & over protective of her. Im so glad we live in a community that sees Kaity for who she truly is; a beautiful, kind, caring soul inside and out. David Jones and I want to thank the Junior and Senior Class of Greenfield High. And to all of their parents: youre raising some really great kids. You should be very proud. Kaity is still on Cloud 9, and were enjoying it so much!! Thank you ♥
