By Siteri Taleitaki It was always a dream of former British and Fijian army officer Ilisoni Ligairi to help his extended family in Nabalebale Village, Wailevu East, Cakaudrove. The former special forces instructor’s dream came to pass after the opening of the Nabalebale Youth Dream Centre in early January, 2014. His son Dan Ligairi said he was proud that his father gave something back to his village. “With his initiative, villagers will now have access to the world of technology and information. “The knowledge grasped from the dream centre will help to build up a person’s capability to learn and explore new things that will help them grow in a positive environment,” he said. “Information gained can be utilised and put into practice as the majority of the village’s dropout are regular visitors to the centre. “This is one way school dropouts can be inspired to pursue their dreams and giving them hope,” he said. Mr Ligairi said the idea of building a dream centre started in 2007. The centre now has three computers and a fully functional library that is accessible to youths, women and children in broadening their knowledge. About 50 homes in the village will have access to internet and information.
