By Staff Blogger Admit it… you talk to yourself all through-out the day. We all do. It is a normal and natural part of the day. What you are saying to yourself can make or break your day, so be cautious when using that inner monologue. There are different types of “dialogues” that our minds go through during the day: neutral, positive, and negative. Neutral dialogue is when your mind is talking to you about your plans for the day, whether you should go to the grocery store or not, what clothes to buy, and other mundane details that don’t really affect your internal feelings. This is the pros and cons stage in making decisions. Positive dialogue is when your mind is telling you about all the great things that are happening for the day. Your hair looks great today. You did a great job with that presentation this morning. That blouse is a great color on you. Internal praise is something that we should all experience every day and it can actually lift your spirits and make you feel more confident about the day ahead. Negative dialogue is just the opposite. Your mind goes on a rampage picking apart every little thing, such as a hair out of place that throws off your whole hair style. You didn’t accomplish a task that you wanted to in the morning and you end up chastising yourself all day for it. These thoughts can bring you down and make your day a lot worse than it needs to be. To help keep the negative dialogue at bay, make sure that you are aware of what it is and take the steps to change it. If a negative thought pops into your head, think of a witty comeback that makes you smile. Realize that you are human, you are not perfect, and that there are going to be some negative things that you may think about yourself, but don’t let that ruin your whole day!
