By distributing the flyer below (click on the link to read the whole thing), Skeptic Mark Tilbrook offered grieving people the tools with which they can assess the claims of a “psychic.” A particular “psychic” and her spouse are making him pay for his courage and compassion with threats and a lawsuit. Grief Beyond Belief supports Tilbrook’s campaign. Most of us in our community know how to see through the cold reading razzmatazz and saccharine to the truth: it is not possible for anyone to talk with or for dead people because following death there is no consciousness with whom to talk. However, in the depths of grief, even the usually skeptical can be vulnerable to the temptation to believe. Tilbrook has stepped forward to help prevent the grieving from being manipulated and exploited. And we thank him.
